The 2nd weekend in October marks the running of the 5th CSRG CHARITY CHALLENGE at Infineon Raceway.  Appearing along with the myriad of exciting CSRG participants will be the cars of the Historic Grand Prix Group, the historic NASCAR Group and Formula Junior.

This CHARITY CHALLENGE weekend is a great opportunity for CSRG and all of its friends to again contribute to a great cause – the needy children of Sonoma County and celebrate CSRG’s 41 racing season.  Through Speedway Children’s Charities we have been able to donate $367K in the last four years to the needy children of Sonoma County.  All of the receipts from the ticket sales, track ride-arounds, Friday night dinner, and live and silent auctions will again be donated directly to the Speedway Children’s Charities.  Our goal is to reach or exceed our donation of last year, so please come out and help us make that goal a reality.

Friday, October 10th

Tech inspection: We will conduct our usual roving tech inspection from noon until 4 p.m.  Tech your car on Friday; it means less anxiety and drama on Saturday.  Practice time by group will be available from 1p.m.-6p.m. on Friday for an additional fee by pre-registration.

This year’s Friday Dinner has been changed to a casual affair to be held at a winery close to the track.  In addition to the fabulous food and wine we will have a live auction of numerous items of automobilia, art, wine, hotel getaways, etc.  Due to the limited space of this venue, we recommend that you respond early.

Saturday & Sunday, October 11/12th

Vintage Racing: Both days will feature practice and racing by group.  The final schedule will be e-mailed along with your acceptance letter.

Charity Ride-arounds: We are working to make this segment of the event even more successful than previous years.  The entire $75-100 donation from the 3-lap ride-arounds will go to charity.  If this is something you would like to be a part of by giving rides, please check the box on the entry form.  Cars are required to have a second seat and proper belts. All drivers in the charity ride-around must be fully entered as a driver for the weekend and wear full safety gear while on the track.  All passengers must be properly belted in and have approved helmets and eye protection.  Due to track policy, children under the age of 16 are not allowed on the track.

Saturday Paddock Party for all entrants and their crew: Saturday, following the last event of the day, CSRG and Infineon will host a party for all drivers and crew in the paddock.  If you would care to contribute to help enhance the celebration or defray expenses, please let us know.

IMPORTANT!  ENTRY DEADLINE & REFUND POLICY

Entries, to be accepted, must be received online 21 days prior to the event. Entries received between 20 and 14 days of the event will be assessed a $100.00 late penalty.  Entries received within 13 days of the event will not be accepted.

The refund deadline is October 3rd.  If for any reason you can’t make the event, mail or fax a refund request before the 3rd of October and we will gladly refund your entry fee in full or apply it as a credit to another upcoming CSRG event.  Unfortunately, no refunds can be  accepted by e-mail, please.

Where: Cornerstone Gardens, located at 23570 Highway 121, just 6 miles from Infineon.

Why: So that you can be part of the fun and help contribute to a worthy cause.  Come help us kickoff the 5th CSRG CHARITY CHALLENGE scheduled for October 10-12th at Infineon Raceway. The Cost: Tickets for the KICKOFF are $100 each and are tax deductible.  Corporate sponsors - $2,000 for 25 tickets, $1000 for 12 tickets.  All proceeds go to the Sonoma County chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities - A nationwide charity program devoted to helping needy kids.  Over the past four years, CSRG’s efforts have allowed us to donate over $376,000 to this great cause. Step up and buy extra tickets and introduce your friends to vintage racing and help make this a successful big first step for the 5th CSRG Charity Challenge.  While a few corporate blocks have been sold, we still need the participation of all the CSRG members and associate members to make this year’s charity event another success.

Meanwhile, we are enthusiastically organizing activities for the 5th CSRG Charity Challenge on the weekend of October 10-12th, 2008 to again benefit the Speedway Children’s Charities. A casual Friday night dinner near the track featuring a guest speaker, along with a live auction, a trackside silent auction of many great, must-have items; track rides in a race car of your choice; and two days of exciting Historic Grand Prix, vintage NASCAR, Formula Jr. and vintage sportscar racing are the activities planned for this 5th Charity Challenge weekend.

    CHARITY AUCTION DONATION:
    Deadline September 26

Auction Donations, including the Donation Form

    Dear CSRG Member:

By now you are aware of our success with the CSRG CHARITY CHALLENGE.  Through the efforts of many generous people over the last four years, we have been able to donate over $378,000 to the Sonoma Chapter of the SPEEDWAY CHILDREN’S CHARITIES.  In addition to making it a fun, weekend for CSRG vintage racers, their families and their friends, we have been able to make a difference in the lives of many of the needy children of Sonoma County.

To continue the tradition, we desperately need your help.  Besides participating in the event, we would like to ask for your generosity in another area.  On Friday, Oct. 10th we will hold a dinner and live auction and on Saturday, October 11th, a silent auction at the track.  Please take the time to look around your den, office, garage or automobilia collection for that special something that you could contribute to the auctions.

What are we looking for?  Almost any item of automobilia, photography, artwork, golf package, weekend getaway, case of wine, jewelry or book, etc. that other gearheads or their friends might be anxiously waiting to bid on.  In addition, if your business can donate an item or service, etc., or you have friends who might be willing to donate, please let them know about this worthy cause.

Please fill out the enclosed form and return by mail by Friday, September 26th to ensure that your item can be included in the auction catalog.  If you don’t have a suitable item to donate, a check made out to the Speedway Children’s Charities can also help us realize our goal.  Remember, all of the proceeds from this auction will go directly to the children.  All checks should be made out to the Speedway Children’s Charities, which is donating all of its administrative efforts to make this needy children’s benefit a 100% success.

Best regards, and thank you for your help, we appreciate it.
