Car(s) History
EXAMPLE: Lotus 23B - I am the eleventh owner of this former east coast car. The first owner is unknown but the second owner purchased the Lotus from well known dealer, Fred Opert in New Jersey. Through various owners, the car raced at Bridgehampton, VIR, Cumberland, Summit Point, Blackhawk Valley, Watkins Glen, IRP and Road America. The car was purchased by a west coast racer then on to Colorado and then on to Southern California. It was raced sparingly in each location. I purchased the car as a “basket case” in 1997. The car had been stored in this condition for over 10 years. After a 2 1/2 year restoration the car made it’s debut with CSRG in March of 2000.

Porsche 911 - this car was a daily driver for all it’s life until I purchased it two years ago. After a one year rebuild and restoration which converted the car into a street legal, vintage racer, the car made it’s debut with CSRG in September of 2002, but experienced some teething problems. Now sorted out, it’s second debut will be in November, 2003 with CSRG at Thunderhill.

Why I vintage race
EXAMPLE: As a life long race fan, sports car owner and “weekend mechanic”, it was only natural I would eventually move from being a spectator to becoming a vintage racer. Initially it was the challenge of restoring and maintaining my car along with the thrill of piloting it around tracks I had visited as a spectator, that kept me interested. Then it became more of a challenge to improve as a driver and then to seek a faster “ride”. After racing and learning in a Formula Vee for four years, the move to a much faster car, the Lotus, started the learning curve all over again.

As time went by and I met more fellow drivers, the fun of being on track has been supplemented with a great group of friends which I look forward to seeing at each event. An added benefit is that this has also become an activity which the whole family looks forward to participating in.
