| Car(s) History |
The car was built in Sausalito, CA by Nade Bourgeault. It was driven by Nick Reynolds of the Kingston Trio. The car was featured in Car & Driver in August 1961. This is one of the earliest mid-engine cars built on the West Coast. This car is one-of-a-kind, as Bourgeault made no others of this design. I purchased the car in late 1993 from Al Santos. The car was in Fantasy Junction when I first saw it. It was love at first sight. ;=) The car was essentially ready to go when I bought it, but it did need a new engine about a year later. I average about 3-4 events a year in the car. |
| Why I vintage race |
I think I first became hooked at the Monterey Historics in 1985, when Alfa Romeo was the featured marque. I have owned Alfa Romeos for many years. I used to autocross my Giulietta Spider with ARA, but they kept losing sites. When I decided to go into Vintage Racing, I thought I would have to undo a lot of modifications to my Spider. After taking the Russell Racing School in a Formula Ford, I decided Open Wheel Racing was what I really wanted to do. The Bourgeault Formula Jr. is a unique piece of motor racing history. That makes it all the more fun.
CSRG is a great club to race with. Their events are low-key but well run. The socializing and story-telling are half the fun of the events. I hope I can continue racing for many years. |
