| Car(s) History |
This Giulietta Spider was first prepared and raced in 1964 by Paul Carrick of San Francisco. He raced it in SCCA events at Cotati, Laguna Seca, Port of Stockton, Sears Point, Vacaville etc. for eight years. The grids included some cars and drivers who are active in CSRG today.
Paul sold the car to Brian Chapman who raced it briefly. I became the next owner in 1992. I have vintage raced the car up and down the West Coast, from Seattle to Coronado. CSRG is my home club.
Paul Carrick first raced the car in its original Sky Blue color wearing number 47. Later he painted it orange with number 58. Now it is back to Sky Blue, with race number 58. |
| Why I vintage race |
Bridgehampton, early sixties, Hansgen in a Birdcage, I loved it. Sprites, BMWs with two and four wheels, sporting excuses for family cars over many years.
I took the CSRG Drivers' Clinic in a tired but willing Ferrari 250GTE (thank you Gary Kuntz and David Love.) The Giulietta racer became available and I was hooked.
Now it's the friendships, the enjoyment and preservation of a special car, the challenge of being smooth and consistent on the track, and the exhilaration at the end of the day. |
