| Car(s) History |
This car was found in a Los Angeles junkyard in the late 80s. It was a white painted shell that had apparently been a race car for some time judging by the number of modifications that it had; vents cut here and there, various roll bar mounting holes, windscreen hold down tabs, flared fenders and welded seems. The history has not been traced.
Rob Shriner of Parker Colorado restored it for vintage racing and raced it in California and Colorado in the late 80s and early 90s. It was then sold to Umberto Toscano of Louisville Colorado and was raced in Colorado in the late 90s.
I purchased it in late1998 and have raced it since. I have returned it to more proper vintage specs by adding back most of the interior, installing a proper1600 engine, adding working lights and windshield wipers and adding back windows and trim to comply with the B Sedan rules in effect in 1965.
If a white Alfa Sprint GT with flares and the serial number 611615 is familiar to anyone I would love to find out more about the cars history. |
| Why I vintage race |
I have always been car nut. I began autocrossing in 1965 with a Corvette and continue to do so today. Along the way I tried road racing, but time and budget would not permit a serious effort.
In the early 80s many of my friends were getting involved in Vintage racing and it was a natural for me to do so also. The sportsmanship, competition, camaraderie and attitude of the CSRG membership keeps me coming back for more.
I have also taken my car to six East Coast tracks, and nearly all the West Coast tracks just for the thrill of trying new tracks and meeting fellow enthusiasts. |
