| Why I vintage race |
My first race was a 65th birthday present when my son let me race his 1965 Porsche 356. I bought my car a month later to try racing for a while. seven years later I'm still at it. My primary interest is testing my mechanical skills rather than my driving skills. Keeping the Porsche running has been a real test of these skills. I sometimes resent having to actually race as I really enjoy just nosing around the pits inspecting the other cars and talking to the other drivers particularly those that work on their own cars. Vintage racing also allows me to race with cars and even some drivers that I idolized in the 50's and 60's. |
