Lyle Forsgrin was an engineer working for Boeing in Seattle. He was also an avid racer and car builder. In 1968 he started building F5000 cars and this is chassis number 2. It was sold as a roller set up for a Chevrolet 302 to an airline pilot who stored it in his barn. It was never assembled and is still as delivered in 1968. After I purchased it the car was taken to Gallant racing and was thoroughly inspected. The hubs were disassembled, crack tested, and rebuilt with new bearings. The brakes were stripped and rebuilt with new Porterfield pads. The frame was crack checked. The 3-piece magnesium wheels were stripped and rebuilt. The original body molds were purchased. Over the years I have collected many pieces for the car. These include Chevy alloy block with “program” cross bolt mains. Bob Groom ported aluminum heads. 4340 crankshaft, Lucas Kinsler fuel injection, and a zero time DG 300 transmission. Price is dependent on the how many of the parts go with it. For example the Hewland DG 300 is worth + / - $10,000. The Lucas Kinsler injection is also very valuable. Contact: DABEAUPRE@GMAIL.COM

1970 Leda F5000, Chassis# 102

It was designed by Len Terry for the 1970 F5000 Guards European Championship. It was sold to Broadspeed racing for Chris Craft & ran at least one event (at Castle Combe) before being crashed in practice for the next round of the Guards F 5000 championship. It was decided to finish chassis Number 103 as it would take less time than repairing 102.  Chassis 102 was repaired and, in the fall of 1970, it was sold to Dan Gurney of All American Racers for use by Swede Savage.  The car was then sold to Phil Henny for racing in American Formula A.  A copy of the bill of sale from AAR to Mr. Henny comes with the car.  Phil eventually crashed the car at Laguna Seca and decided to restore it properly with the help of Carroll Smith. The new design incorporated McLaren M-10 rear suspension and made the engine and transmission a stressed member of the chassis. This change significantly increased the car's stiffness & cured the handling problems that had plagued it from new. It should be very competitive in the “Early 1970 and older” F5000 class in the states. It is in excellent mechanical condition and ready to race. NOTE: The car has not been restored from original but all mechanical and suspensions systems have been gone through.
