Getting you started
New members that have never raced, or club racers new to Vintage racing will get a mentor assigned. This person will help you with everything from race and driving issues, to getting through your first event.  To connect with a mentor, email Club Vice President, Ed Lauber: ed@auctioncity.com

The main steps in getting started are:
  1. Join
  2. Get your CSRG Competition License-Medical Card. (For details, see below under "Requirements for a Competition License").
  3. Review the rules and regulations
  4. Submit your car. Be sure that, whatever car you get, it comes with a Log Book. If it's a self-built car, CSRG can issue you a Log Book, but only if the car has been submitted & accepted by the Board.
  5. Attend your first event.
Requirements for a Competition License:
  • Generally speaking, here is the type of background/experience CSRG wants before issuing a Provisional Competition License & it assumes 1) you have received no write-ups for on or off track issues & 2) you complete the CSRG physical form.
  • If you have a current license with an associate member organization of VMC (Vintage Motorsport Council) & have run at least three events with that organization, you are eligible to run with CSRG.
  • A full, four day course with HOD (Hooked On Driving). The four days need to be completed within a 12 month period.
  • If you have a current SCCA or FIA license you are eligible to run with CSRG.
  • Three days of instruction from a recognized school such as, Bob Bondurant Skip Barber, Alan Berg, etc.
  • Additionally: If you have previous racing history/experience (SCCA, NASCAR, etc.) but have not competed in recent years you may ask the CSRG Board for a license approval. If you have racing experience not listed above, but feel that you are qualified to race, you may submit your resume to the CSRG Race Director (race.director@csrgweb.org) for review.
Membership entitles you to:
  • Subscription to The Contact Patch & the CSRG Newsletter
  • Voting rights
  • An invitation to the annual membership meeting & dinner, including a guest.
  • Spouses and other members of the household of a Racing Member are automatically Associate Members.
  • No membership surcharge for race entries
  • Testing discounts
