It was designed by Len Terry for the 1970 F5000 Guards European Championship. It was sold to Broadspeed racing for Chris Craft & ran at least one event (at Castle Combe) before being crashed in practice for the next round of the Guards F 5000 championship. It was decided to finish chassis Number 103 as it would take less time than repairing 102. Chassis 102 was repaired and, in the fall of 1970, it was sold to Dan Gurney of All American Racers for use by Swede Savage. The car was then sold to Phil Henny for racing in American Formula A. A copy of the bill of sale from AAR to Mr. Henny comes with the car. Phil eventually crashed the car at Laguna Seca and decided to restore it properly with the help of Carroll Smith. The new design incorporated McLaren M-10 rear suspension and made the engine and transmission a stressed member of the chassis. This change significantly increased the car's stiffness & cured the handling problems that had plagued it from new. It should be very competitive in the “Early 1970 and older” F5000 class in the states. It is in excellent mechanical condition and ready to race. NOTE: The car has not been restored from original but all mechanical and suspensions systems have been gone through. Contact: DABEAUPRE@GMAIL.COM
